Literature Text

You wait patiently for a few days while the Union Pacific prepares the engine to be delivered. Eventually, the engine arrives.  When you first examine the engine, it gives a good impression. It’s got two small pilot wheels at the front which helps the engine maneuver around corners, and eight driving wheels to help it distribute its power on more track surface. It is a good looking thing, and you waste no time to get it off the delivery train, fuel it up, and put it to work.
Within a few days, you begin to question your decision. The first orders your company receives are light. The trains are only a few cars long and the A-1 finds this to be too easy. You spend a lot of money on fuel and maintenance. The trains do bring in a profit, but it is small. You keep hoping for heavier work so that the A-1 can prove that it was a good choice, but the work orders that come are still light. Times are booming and you believe that eventually work will get heavier, but because orders are light, you begin to believe the Y-1 was the better choice.

Do you want to trade the A-1 for a Y-1 in the hopes of getting bigger profits, or will you stick with the A-1 believing that traffic will get heavier and the A-1 will become really useful?
Trade engine or keep it?
